Traditional medicine: Calories in, calories out. The only way to achieve long term weight loss is by achieving a calorie deficit. So if you have unwanted pounds, you need to either eat less or exercise more.

This is the conventional approach to weight loss. And it’s not necessarily true.

My guest this week is a physician who specializes in a functional medicine approach to weight loss. This approach takes in more than just the simple calories in/calories out. Our weight is much more complicated than that, and our hormones play a huge role.
